Mississauga Synchro Swimmers keep on winning
MSSA Strikes Silver in Quebec

Mississauga – The Mississauga Synchronized Swimming Association Tier 6 team, coached by Meaghan McGowan, captured a Silver Medal in the 16 and over level at the Eastern/Atlantic Divisionals in Quebec City last weekend. Winning the figure competition and placing second in the routine competition lead to a second place overall standing in their category. The Silver medallists are Lynn Gammie, Allison Hitchcock, Natalie Johnson, Cara Krall, Ashley Miller, Andrea Rubiano, Sara Savanyu and Brittany Thomson.

In February, the team had won the Ontario Provincial Competition. Competing against teams from Eastern Canada in this competition, the champions wowed the judges with their spirited routine swimming to “Mambo Italiano”. High figure placements helped the team capture the Silver Medal. The team’s youngest swimmer Natalie Johnson held the highest score in the figures event for MSSA. Meanwhile, three other team members were top 25 in the 16 and over category. Lynn Gammie placed 15th, Ashley Miller 21st and Brittany Thomson 25th.

The other MSSA Tier 6 team, comprised of all new swimmers to the national competition stream, finished 5th out of the Eastern teams and 7th overall in the 16 and over competition. MSSA Team member Alissa Cait placed a very strong 13th in the 16 and over figures competition. Coached by Debbie Stanton, other team members include Amanda Charbon, Samantha DiFilippo, Melissa George, Katy Kuszper, Amanda Secord, Juliana Hatch and Sarah Venner.

The teams are now preparing for the final Canadian Espoir Championships at Etobicoke¹s Olympium pool June 7 - 10, 2006, the main national competition of the year.
