Ontario Winter Games Trials On Saturday Feb 11, our tier 4 team coached by Debbie Stanton traveled to Brantford’s Gretzky Centre for the Ontario Winter Games trials. It was an exciting, but very long day. The team participated in three different competitions, beginning with land drilling, then routines, and finally ending with figures late in the evening. The land drilling competition was especially “nerve testing”, as the music (Pulp Fiction medley) malfunctioned, causing the girls to have to start over. They kept their cool, started again, and unbelievably, the music faltered over, and over again. The team persevered, ignored the gaps in their music, and carried on with a true championship performance to place a very close second to Waterloo Regional Synchro Club. The competition moved onto pool routines, and once again our MSSA girls put on a stellar performance with a high energy routine. They placed second again, bringing their MSSA silver medal tally to two! The girls continued on with excellent poise and grace, to finish the evening with fantastic individual figure scores. Rebecca Gordon placed 4th, Colleen Gammie placed 5th, and everyone else in the top 20! Because of Tier 4’s hard work in each competition, they earned themselves a spot for the 2006 Ontario Winter Games at CFB Borden scheduled for March 9th to 12th. MSSA is very proud of our athletes, and we wish them the best of luck at the OWG’s! See pictures from the trip in our photo gallery by clicking here! |
