Ontario Winter Games – March 9,2006

The Ontario Winter Games were a huge success for the Mississauga Synchronized Swimming Association's tier 4 team. The Games' Opening Ceremonies were held on March 9th in Collingwood. The Mississauga swimmers sported white scarves, head bands and mittens embroidered with the MSSA logo, as they and other athletes paraded through Blue Mountain Village. Over the next three days the team participated in Ontario's first ever Land drill competition, displaying their underwater moves with precise hand signals on a stage in front of judges and audience. Tier 4 took a bronze in the Land drill competition. This was followed by a Figures competition where four of the top six places were claimed by MSSA, with Colleen Gammie placing first among the 14 and older competitors. Rebecca Gordon came fourth, Kelly Bowman fifth, and Melissa Egan in sixth.

The highlight of the games came during their final Routine competition Sunday, with MSSA swimming to a close second place finish, and taking home the silver medal.
